The Burleson Family Blog

Just another weblog

So What’s Going On Now. . . ? July 23, 2009

Not much really, which is why I haven’t really posted anything. Isabel is teething. . . a lot! She’s also trying to say words again, and is getting pretty proficient at walking.

Other than that, same old same old. . .

It’s been awhile! May 20, 2009

Alright, alright, I know, I know! I’ve been a slacker with my blog posts, but there’s just so much to tell you!

First off, Isabel is off the charts with her height. She measured a whopping 33 inches at the doctor’s office today! She’s a very tall girl, with an attitude to match! She loves doing things on her own, and even though she’s not walking yet, she is successfully using the potty. Now if only she could say potty, it would go much easier. However, we are working on learning the sign for potty, so maybe in time. She does love to sit on it, though, and we’ve been having much success.

I am also perfectly pleased to say that she is speaking, particularly one phrase: I did it. It doesn’t matter what it is, or whether or not she did in fact do it, whatever it is, she did it. The runner up is the all popular “I do it” which means that she will do it herself, thankyouverymuch! I have noticed such phrases such as I try it, and yeah okay sneaking in as well.

As for Matthew, he’s trucking along at work. He got into a little car accident, some guy was in a hurry and hit his bumper, so we just got it back from the shop today, all fixed, courtesy of the other guy’s insurance. So the Saturn looks good.

Meanwhile, me, I’m just the mommy of a 15 month old!

Easter Vigil is Approaching. . . April 2, 2009

Well, we’re waaaaayyy past due for an update, so here I am, letting everyone know all the news that’s fit to. . . blog? About us anyway.

So before I forget I wanted to let everyone know that Easter Vigil will be next Saturday (the one before Easter) at 8pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Monroe. If you’d like to come we’d love to see you, especially as this is a very special event for me and our family.

On the baby front, Isabel is getting another two teeth in! Yay! They’re the top two, and she will have 4 teeth in all once they come out completely. I’ve been so excited to see more teeth in her mouth since she definitely wants to eat a lot more than what we’ve been able to give her. She will also be getting her first new pair of real baby shoes in about a week or so. I finally settled on a cute little tennis shoe looking pair from Preschoolians. They were a little expensive, yes, but since we haven’t had to shell out any money (almost) on clothes I don’t mind it. It’s something she definitely needs.

Not much else to report here. We’re still waiting for Isabel to walk, and as always, Matthew is doing very well at work.

Until next time!

Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on it’s Way! March 16, 2009

So not much has been happening with our little family, which, to be honest, is the way we like it.

We had the auction for the Morton Estate on the 7th, which went well. We were pretty pleased with the way things happened. We had a great day, the weather was gorgeous and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It was interesting enough too, in that I’d never heard a real auction before, so it was pretty cool to attend. By the way, if you ever need to hold an auction, go with Iron Horse auctioneers. They’re the best.

Isabel just graduated from 12 month clothes to 18 month clothes, which of course is just her way. Usually two weeks after she hits the age on the clothing she outgrows it. But that’s okay. Once upon a time she was only four pounds so I love to see her flourishing.

We’re also looking forward to having the Easter Bunny visit our house this year. I’m sure our own bunnies, Mushi Mushi and Gummi Bear, will be very hospitable and show him around, especially since there is chocolate involved. Actually, the “Easter Bunny” was very disappointed to find that all the Tinkerbell pails at Wal-Mart have already been bought, so will probably have to go with something else. Well, I guess it doesn’t matter, as long as it’s purple. Purple is officially Isabel’s favorite color.

And speaking of Easter, Easter vigil is right around the corner, which means that I will be completely Catholic soon! Yay! I’m really looking forward to it, as it’s been a long long journey.

So anyway, I suppose that this is everything! See you at the next update!

The March for Babies April 2009 March 4, 2009

Filed under: march for babies — catholicmama18 @ 5:01 pm

Throughout the year you’re going to spend a lot of one dollar bills on stuff that doesn’t matter. Yeah, admit it, you are. That soda from the vending machine. That candy bar in line at the grocery store. That really really crappy magazine you’re so ashamed to admit you buy you got the subscription.

How about you spend that dollar on something that matters. I’m participating in the March for Babies this April, and I’ve set a goal for myself of raising $200. I know it’s a small goal, but I also know that everyone’s pocketbook is strained this year, so I understand. But I know you can donate a dollar. Forgo that one soda, that one candy bar, and spend it on something really important: saving babies. And if you really don’t have the funds to do it, sign up with me, walk the 3.5 miles, get someone to sponsor you, and do something great.

The Very First Post! March 3, 2009

Well, so hi! I’m glad you’ve come to visit us, the Burleson Family. I have to admit, this isn’t an .original idea, and have to give credit to my friend Quinn, who gave me the idea to do this. Anyways . . .

So I’m going to do a quick recap of everything that’s happened so far in 2009. It’s been a cold start to the year (it’s still cold, even though it’s March!) but that hasn’t stopped us from trying to hit the ground running. We had to move from our little trailer in Marshville, but it’s been no big deal, because we’ve wound up in this beautiful 2 bedroom house in Wingate. Just our cup of tea!

Isabel celebrated her first birthday and had an absolute blast! We had an assortment of family and friends, and she received lots of wonderful presents, although it still doesn’t beat the dollhouse Grandma and Grandpa gave her for Christmas.

As for what’s coming. . . well, I’ll be Confirmed and taking Eucharist at Easter vigil this year, and we’re looking forward to putting a garden on our little piece of (rented) land. We’ll also be celebrating our third Anniversary in April, so come back and see what else we’re up to.
